HISTORY
1984
The Gordon Institute is founded by Dr. Bernard
Gordon, founder of Analogic Corporation and NeuroLogica
Corps.
The Gordon Institute is one of the first educational
institutions designed and developed specifically to
create engineering leaders.
1984-1987
The Institute’s mission, curriculum, and policies are
developed and the School prepares for accreditation by
the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC).
1987
The first class of seven students graduates from The
Gordon Institute.
1991
The NEASC accredits The Gordon Institute to confer the
degree of Master of Science in Engineering Management.
1992
The Gordon Institute merges with Tufts University.
2001
Tufts Gordon Institute assumes responsibility for Tufts’
Entrepreneurial Leadership Program. In doing so, the
Institute broadens its mission to encompass innovation
and entrepreneurship as well as engineering leadership.
Tufts Gordon Institute Today
Today, our M.S. in Engineering Management is a nationally
recognized business management program for practicing
engineers and other technical professionals. There are
currently 77 students from 54 different companies
enrolled in the program. These students are from a broad
range of industries including defense, biotech,
healthcare, medical instrumentation, electronics,
telecom, computer hardware/software and construction.
The more than 400 alumni of Tufts Gordon Institute’s
graduate engineering management program are having a
real impact on the professional practice of engineering
and the successful operation of organizations around the
world.
The Entrepreneurial Leadership Program enrolls more than
200 undergraduate students each semester in courses
ranging from entrepreneurial marketing to business law.
More than 150 students have completed a minor in
Entrepreneurial Leadership since the program debuted in
2002. The program continues to evolve as a dynamic
learning center, providing an education designed to
prepare future entrepreneurial leaders.
